Introduction

I have grouped the history of Rome into sections that look at each of the different periods of Roman history. These are all in different stages of completeness as different periods of Roman history take my interest.

Before The Republic (753BC - 510BC) - Looks at the legends surrounding the settling of Rome in 753 BC as well as examining what little archeological evidence there is of what may have happened. The legends of the seven kings of Rome and finally the fall of the Roman monarchy

The Early Republic (510BC - 343BC) - Looks at the formation of the Roman Republic after the fall of the monarchy, the struggle of the Plebian Class as it fought for equality and how this prepared Rome to become a great power.

The Conquest of Italy (343BC - 264BC) - Looks at how Rome gained control of first Latium, then central and southern Italy.

The Conquest of the Mediterranean (264BC - 133BC) - Looks at how Rome after, almost inadvertenly, entering into a war against Carthage emerged 130 years later as the dominant power in the Mediterranean.

The Fall of the Republic (133BC - 31BC) - Looks at the times of the Gracchi, Marius and Sulla and then the two triumvirates and the resulting civil wars that led to the fall of the republic.

Augustus (31BC - 14AD) - Looks at the life of Augustus and how he created the empire and the administration that would remain throughout the rest of the Roman Empire.

The Julian Emperors (14AD - 68AD) - Looks at the lives of Augustus's successors of the Julian line, this covers the period until the death of Nero.

The Flavian Emperors (68AD - 96AD) - Looks at the war of succession after the death of Nero and then the lives of the Flavian Emperors - Vespasian, Titus and Domitian.
